Apparently it is on the site of the old Bacchus, which I was only in when I was completely off my head on gin. Came across this pub one cold New years day when I was looking for a place to have pint it was closed (ended up in a social club) fantastic ocean liner feel to the pub, very plush decor has a comfy no-smoking area, good food, weird crisps (parsnip crisps anyone) the ale is of the high standard you would expect from Fitzgerald’s pub. Also has a good (though becoming increasingly clichéd) selection of bottled beers, including anchor steam, duval. Great boozer all round really. One of the best new pubs in Newcastle .
