situated next to Tyne Tees television you can be lucky enough to see some of the presenters getting off their heads. Nice looking pub, but a bit pricey. Has a limited selection of ales and always seems to be dead when I’m in it ( 11:30 on a Wednesday morning) is the home to a couple of different nights, which are based in the function room upstairs
I thought that the egypt Cottage had been demolisheed along with the the adjoining Tyne Tees TV building and Car park, when TTT moved over the river to Gateswhead.
Aye closed in 2008/09 then got pulled down shortly after – it was a great pub, it’s still astounds me that they were allowed to demolish it
